What we commit to
99.5% monthly availability for the inspection API. That is about three and a half hours a month.
It is deliberately not 99.9%. Tamperlens runs on a single server with a single operator, and a target that architecture cannot meet would be a marketing number rather than a commitment. Deploys are health-gated and roll back automatically, which is what keeps the figure honest rather than lucky.
How this page is measured
- Every 15 minutes, from GitHub's infrastructure — never from the server being watched, because a machine cannot meaningfully report its own outage.
- This page is a static file rebuilt on each probe and served by Cloudflare, separately from the service it describes. If Tamperlens is down, this page is still up.
- One vantage point, every 15 minutes. An outage shorter than the interval can pass unseen, and a fault that only affects one region will not appear here at all. Treat the figures as a floor.
- Nothing on this page is edited by hand. The numbers are what the probe recorded.
